Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis show the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
A high-ranking official said the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
